We believe that at a time of deep partisan division, Minnesotans can unite around one goal: a strong and growing state economy that provides a decent standard of living for all. Social justice cannot always be imposed by governments. It more often flows naturally from widespread access to economic opportunity.
Many effective state organizations already contribute to building a growing economy and a just society by advancing policy in specific areas such as education, health care, transportation, the environment, local government, business climate and housing.
We gladly collaborate with them, but our focus is different and more expansive — providing a broad framework for investing wisely and taxing fairly to create shared prosperity.
Growth & Justice combines independent research with civic engagement — involving people who share progressive economic goals but may disagree on tactics. This work creates innovative, strategic policy proposals that we communicate broadly.
Working strategically across traditional boundaries, we evaluate potential solutions through a nonpartisan economic frame that asks:
* How will this alternative contribute to overall prosperity?
* Is it fair — both in who pays and who has access?
* Is it forward-reaching and sustainable for the future?
