Please join Growth & Justice for a symposium exploring how Minnesota's progressive Republican leaders and policies have contributed to Minnesota's high quality of life.
With keynote speakers:
Former Gov. Al Quie Governor from 1979 – 1983, Al Quie also served in the Minnesota Senate from 1954 – 1958 and in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1958 – 1979. A champion for investing in public education, Gov. Quie instituted a merit system for judicial selection and is known for lifelong service in humanitarian causes.
Former Gov. Arne Carlson Governor from 1991 - 1999, Arne Carlson served on the Minneapolis City Council from 1966 – 1967, in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1971 – 1979, and as state auditor from 1979 – 1991. Gov. Carlson reached historic agreement with DFLers on health-care coverage for working families and fought to end discrimination based on sexual orientation.
U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad A member of the U.S. House of Representatives since 1991, Jim Ramstad also served in the Minnesota Senate from 1981 – 1990. Ramstad will long be remembered for his advocacy for access to mental health care.
