Move your redesign idea from the kitchen table to the committee table

Kitchen-Table.jpgMinnesota is facing a $1.2 billion budget deficit for this year and a $5.4 billion deficit in the next two-year budget cycle and is becoming more apparent that we cannot resolve our budget  woes by taxing and cutting alone. We do need to raise more revenue and a reasonable restoration of previous income tax rates are the fairest way to do that, but we also need to rethink the way state government operates in order to achieve better results.

Last year, Growth & Justice released Governing with Accountability a report that outlined principles to follow, problems to study, and actions to take to achieve better results from our state and local governments. Now, we have joined a bi-partisan group of House members and civic group leaders in promoting the Government Redesign Caucus. The caucus plans to take your ideas and put them into the a “Citizen Redesign Bill” that will receive a hearing before a committee of the House of Representatives.
