Invest for Real Prosperity Invest for Real Prosperity developed a strategic approach to public
investment that supports a healthy state economy to benefit all
Minnesotans. It starts with investing in people and places to increase
our capacity to create wealth and increase an individual's chance of
participating in that growth.
Rethinking Minnesota Taxes This 2004-2005 Growth & Justice project addressed how state and local governments should raise their revenue, and why. The goal of the project was to reform Minnesota's tax/revenue system to be more proportional to income and simultaneously good for job growth. It also laid the groundwork for the "how do we raise the money?" portion of Invest for Real Prosperity.
Workforce First This 2003-04 study recommended that Minnesota's economic development policy should focus on workforce quality, rather than incentives to influence business locations and expansions. Because our educational outcomes are more unequal than most states, the main strategy should be to overcome barriers that keep lower-income people from continuing their education and gaining more work-related skills.
