To help you understand the Governor’s positions, the Minnesota Budget Project has just released a new analysis of the Governor’s revised budget proposal: “Round Two: Governor Increases Use of One-Time Resources in Revised Budget“. The analysis outlines the major components of the Governor’s proposal and provides a deeper look at proposed spending reductions. The bottom line?
- The Governor’s proposal relies on $4.9 billion in various one-time resources to solve an on-going deficit problem.
- His proposal includes spending reductions that target populations that are really vulnerable in this economy - like low-income families, adults without children and persons with disabilities.
Of course, everyone is always looking for more information. Coming up on our research agenda is a side-by-side comparison of the Governor, House and Senate proposals - both an overview and more detailed analysis. We are working as quickly as we can to put this together, but we are waiting on committees to release spreadsheets.
