Supreme Court justice to speak at Inver Hills

Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Paul Anderson and Growth and Justice President Dane Smith will speak Nov. 18 as part of the Interesting Conversations with Interesting People series at Inver Hills Community College, 2500 80th Street East, Inver Grove Heights.

The discussion, titled "How and When Government Works for Us," will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in room 196 of the college's Fine Arts Building. Inver Hills President Tim Wynes will serve as host and moderator. The event is free and open to the public.

Justice Anderson has served on the Minnesota Supreme Court since 1994. His term expires in January 2015. He previously served as chief judge with the Minnesota Court of Appeals and as president of the Dakota County Bar Association.

Smith, an Inver Hills alumnus, was named president of Minnesota Growth and Justice in April 2007 following a 30-year career as a journalist for the Star Tribune and the Pioneer Press, where he reported on state, local and federal government and politics.

The Interesting Conversations with Interesting People series brings prominent people together monthly to discuss topics of current interest. The series is presented by the college's Academy for Lifelong Learning (ALL), which offers a variety of learning opportunities for people age 55 and older.
